Brazil stocks higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 0.38%

Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials , Public Utilities and Electric Power sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.38%.

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Braskem SA (BVMF: BRKM5 ), which rose 5.38% or 0.67 points to trade at 13.12 at the close. Meanwhile, Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais SA USIMINAS Pref (BVMF: USIM5 ) added 3.35% or 0.19 points to end at 5.87 and CSN Mineracao SA (BVMF: CMIN3 ) was up 3.19% or 0.16 points to 5.17 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were BRF SA (BVMF: BRFS3 ), which fell 3.76% or 0.76 points to trade at 19.47 at the close. Automob Participações SA (BVMF: AMOB3 ) declined 3.70% or 0.01 points to end at 0.26 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (BVMF: MRFG3 ) was down 3.21% or 0.47 points to 14.15.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 522 to 409 and 56 ended unchanged.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.36% to 28.25.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.98% or 28.82 to $2,957.52 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.06% or 0.04 to hit $71.41 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 0.37% or 1.60 to trade at $433.40 .

USD/BRL was unchanged 0.01% to 5.77, while EUR/BRL rose 0.78% to 6.04.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.77% at 106.99.
