Netherlands stocks higher at close of trade; AEX up 0.39%

Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Services , Financials and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.39% to hit a new 6-months high.

The best performers of the session on the AEX were Heineken (AS: HEIN ), which rose 14.10% or 9.58 points to trade at 77.54 at the close. Meanwhile, ABN AMRO Group NV (AS: ABNd ) added 8.21% or 1.36 points to end at 17.86 and Universal Music Group NV (AS: UMG ) was up 2.08% or 0.58 points to 28.44 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Randstad NV (AS: RAND ), which fell 6.54% or 2.71 points to trade at 38.74 at the close. Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS: AD ) declined 5.75% or 2.05 points to end at 33.63 and BE Semiconductor Industries NV (AS: BESI ) was down 0.73% or 0.85 points to 114.90.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 56 to 47 and 5 ended unchanged.

Shares in ABN AMRO Group NV (AS: ABNd ) rose to 5-year highs; up 8.21% or 1.36 to 17.86.

The AEX Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 21.09.

Crude oil for March delivery was down 2.20% or 1.61 to $71.71 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 1.94% or 1.49 to hit $75.51 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.04% or 1.24 to trade at $2,931.36 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.37% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.32% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 107.76.
