Spain stocks higher at close of trade; IBEX 35 up 1.04%
Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate , Consumer Goods and Telecoms & IT sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 1.04% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Bankinter (BME: BKT ), which rose 3.02% or 0.26 points to trade at 8.73 at the close. Meanwhile, Grifols SA (BME: GRLS ) added 2.69% or 0.23 points to end at 8.78 and Unicaja Banco SA (BME: UNI ) was up 2.55% or 0.04 points to 1.53 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mapfre (BME: MAP ), which fell 4.34% or 0.12 points to trade at 2.69 at the close. SOLARIA ENERGIA Y MEDIO AMBIENTE (BME: SLRS ) declined 1.63% or 0.13 points to end at 7.55 and Corporacion Acciona Energias Renovables SA (BME: ANE ) was down 0.78% or 0.14 points to 17.71.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 118 to 74 and 20 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bankinter (BME: BKT ) rose to all time highs; up 3.02% or 0.26 to 8.73. Shares in Unicaja Banco SA (BME: UNI ) rose to 5-year highs; rising 2.55% or 0.04 to 1.53.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.02% or 0.64 to $2,933.24 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.29% or 1.68 to hit $71.64 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 2.05% or 1.58 to trade at $75.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.41% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.32% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 107.72.
