Belgium stocks higher at close of trade; BEL 20 up 0.98%

Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms , Technology and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.98% to hit a new 3-years high.

The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS: GLPG ), which rose 2.95% or 0.66 points to trade at 23.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (EBR: ABI ) added 2.85% or 1.39 points to end at 50.18 and Warehouses de Pauw Comm VA (EBR: WDPP ) was up 2.24% or 0.46 points to 20.98 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Lotus Bakeries (EBR: LOTB ), which fell 2.78% or 260.00 points to trade at 9,100.00 at the close. Elia (EBR: ELI ) declined 0.39% or 0.25 points to end at 63.30 and Ageas (EBR: AGES ) was down 0.30% or 0.15 points to 50.60.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 57 to 37 and 15 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.07% or 1.91 to $2,930.69 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.37% or 1.74 to hit $71.58 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 2.08% or 1.60 to trade at $75.40 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.39% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.31% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 107.75.
