U.K. stocks higher at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 up 0.30%
Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Life Insurance/Assurance , Chemicals and Household Goods & Home Construction sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.30% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Prudential PLC (LON: PRU ), which rose 5.77% or 39.40 points to trade at 722.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Entain PLC (LON: ENT ) added 5.46% or 36.00 points to end at 696.00 and Barratt Redrow PLC (LON: BTRW ) was up 5.29% or 23.10 points to 460.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Smurfit WestRock PLC (LON: SWR ), which fell 7.01% or 302.00 points to trade at 4,007.00 at the close. Glencore PLC (LON: GLEN ) declined 2.47% or 8.65 points to end at 341.00 and Centrica PLC (LON: CNA ) was down 2.11% or 2.95 points to 137.05.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 911 to 855 and 621 ended unchanged.
Shares in Glencore PLC (LON: GLEN ) fell to 3-years lows; falling 2.47% or 8.65 to 341.00.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.02% or 0.49 to $2,933.09 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.33% or 1.71 to hit $71.61 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 2.06% or 1.59 to trade at $75.41 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.12% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.32% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 107.74.
