Brazil stocks lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 1.69%
Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials , Basic Materials and Consumption sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.69%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Atacadao SA (BVMF: CRFB3 ), which rose 2.68% or 0.19 points to trade at 7.29 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupo Vamos SA (BVMF: VAMO3 ) added 2.42% or 0.11 points to end at 4.66 and Tim Participacoes SA (BVMF: TIMS3 ) was up 2.19% or 0.37 points to 17.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hapvida Participacoes e Investimentos (BVMF: HAPV3 ), which fell 7.17% or 0.18 points to trade at 2.33 at the close. Automob Participações SA (BVMF: AMOB3 ) declined 3.57% or 0.01 points to end at 0.27 and CSN Mineracao SA (BVMF: CMIN3 ) was down 5.83% or 0.31 points to 5.01.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 609 to 328 and 47 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.59% to 27.87.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.18% or 5.20 to $2,927.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.74% or 2.01 to hit $71.31 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 4.03% or 16.65 to trade at $430.10 .
USD/BRL was down 0.10% to 5.76, while EUR/BRL rose 0.30% to 5.99.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 107.86.
