Canada stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite down 0.11%

Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Materials , Clean Technology and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite fell 0.11%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Parkland Fuel Corporation (TSX: PKI ), which rose 13.01% or 4.36 points to trade at 37.86 at the close. Meanwhile, Brookfield Business Partners LP (TSX: BBU_u ) added 3.60% or 1.19 points to end at 34.23 and Jamieson Wellness Inc (TSX: JWEL ) was up 3.42% or 1.09 points to 32.99 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Ero Copper Corp (TSX: ERO ), which fell 6.29% or 1.25 points to trade at 18.63 at the close. HudBay Minerals Inc (TSX: HBM ) declined 5.69% or 0.78 points to end at 12.93 and First Quantum Minerals Ltd . (TSX: FM ) was down 4.90% or 0.97 points to 18.83.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 514 to 380 and 117 ended unchanged.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 17.97% to 14.11.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.25% or 7.41 to $2,926.99 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.18% or 0.85 to hit $73.17 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.30% or 0.99 to trade at $76.86 a barrel.

CAD/USD was unchanged 0.19% to 0.70, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.32% to 0.68.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.39% at 107.78.
