Greece stocks higher at close of trade; Athens General Composite up 0.21%

Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Construction , Travel and Technology sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite gained 0.21% to hit a new 5-year high.

The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Aktor Symmetochon Technikon kai Energoiakon Ergon AE (AT: AKTRr ), which rose 5.75% or 0.29 points to trade at 5.33 at the close. Meanwhile, Optima bank SA (AT: OPTIMAr ) added 3.29% or 0.44 points to end at 13.80 and Hellenic Telecommunications Organization SA (AT: OTEr ) was up 2.38% or 0.35 points to 15.07 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Crete Plastics SA (AT: PLAKR ), which fell 3.27% or 0.50 points to trade at 14.80 at the close. National Bank of Greece SA (AT: NBGr ) declined 2.14% or 0.18 points to end at 8.42 and Iktinos Hellas (AT: IKTr ) was down 1.36% or 0.01 points to 0.36.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 78 to 42 and 21 ended unchanged.

Shares in Optima bank SA (AT: OPTIMAr ) rose to all time highs; rising 3.29% or 0.44 to 13.80.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.97% or 28.56 to $2,916.84 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.36% or 0.26 to hit $71.03 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.11% or 0.08 to trade at $74.94 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.41% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.66% at 106.51.
