Brazil stocks higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 2.70%

Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumption , Financials and Electric Power sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 2.70% to hit a new 1-month high.

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Grupo Vamos SA (BVMF: VAMO3 ), which rose 9.17% or 0.42 points to trade at 5.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Hapvida Participacoes e Investimentos (BVMF: HAPV3 ) added 8.19% or 0.19 points to end at 2.51 and Cvc Brasil ON (BVMF: CVCB3 ) was up 7.03% or 0.13 points to 1.98 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Pet Center Comercio e Partcipacoes (BVMF: PETZ3 ), which fell 1.79% or 0.08 points to trade at 4.39 at the close. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (BVMF: SUZB3 ) declined 0.64% or 0.38 points to end at 58.85 and Porto Seguro SA (BVMF: PSSA3 ) was down 0.51% or 0.20 points to 39.29.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 626 to 321 and 65 ended unchanged.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.50% to 28.39.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.71% or 50.24 to $2,895.16 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.84% or 0.60 to hit $70.69 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 4.34% or 19.05 to trade at $419.85 .

USD/BRL was down 1.23% to 5.70, while EUR/BRL fell 0.85% to 5.99.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.53% at 106.65.
