Russia stocks higher at close of trade; MOEX Russia Index up 0.21%
Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas , Power and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index gained 0.21% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were NOVATEK PJSC (MCX: NVTK ), which rose 9.39% or 109.60 points to trade at 1,277.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Unipro PJSC (MCX: UPRO ) added 8.29% or 0.19 points to end at 2.48 and Gazprom PJSC (MCX: GAZP ) was up 8.13% or 11.63 points to 154.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were PhosAgro PJSC (MCX: PHOR ), which fell 2.08% or 148.00 points to trade at 6,971.00 at the close. GDR ROS AGRO PLC ORD SHS (MCX: AGRODR ) unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to end at 1,083.80 and Surgutneftegas PJSC Pref (MCX: SNGS_p ) was up 0.12% or 0.07 points to 59.53.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 163 to 78 and 13 ended unchanged.
Shares in Unipro PJSC (MCX: UPRO ) rose to 52-week highs; up 8.29% or 0.19 to 2.48. Shares in GDR ROS AGRO PLC ORD SHS (MCX: AGRODR ) unchanged to 52-week lows; unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to 1,083.80.
The Russian Volatility Index – RVI , which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was up 15.44% to 42.99 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.21% or 6.30 to $2,926.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.81% or 2.06 to hit $71.26 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 2.56% or 1.97 to trade at $75.03 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 2.60% to 93.99, while EUR/RUB fell 2.26% to 97.71.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 107.86.
